Meet Dr. Chanelle Lawson

Ms. Lawson has over nineteen years of experience working with adults and adolescents with severe, persistent mental illness, substance abuse, serious emotional and behavioral disorders, and developmental disabilities. Ms. Lawson possesses a Ph.D in Christian Counseling and Chaplaincy. She is dedicated to offering individuals a helping hand up from the despairs of mental health and addiction through support, education, counseling, groups, and referrals. Ms. Lawson is also a Certified Life Coach, Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor (LCAC), Level II Certified Alcohol and Drug Coordinator (CADAC II), Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS), and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. Ms. Lawson is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor with the IC & RC board and a Certified Behavior Specialist through the TN Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities. She is also a Stephen’s Minister, a Spiritual Care Volunteer at a Women’s Hospital, and is affiliated with various mental health foundations, coalitions, and organizations. Ms. Lawson has a great deal of experience in working with clients of all ages, races, ethnic background, socio-economic status and she has successfully completed cultural competency training.

Ms. Lawson maintains a positive relationship with organizations whose mission is in servicing children and families. Ms. Lawson has developed relationships with various mental health and substance use providers, as well as, schools, juvenile probation, and adult probation. Ms. Lawson believes whole person healing and trauma recovery are key components to building healthy communities. Her current initiatives are bringing awareness to bridge the gap between faith-based communities and mental health and addictions recovery, as well as, addressing individual and family trauma recovery to build healthy and sustainable communities.
